Liv-Better On The Foot Or Liver –

Best Reflexology Points

Let’s talk about one other really cool reason the foot is a great place to apply essential oils.

I will address it by answering a question.

Recently I was asked, “Gav, is it better to apply Liv-Better at night to my feet or over my liver area?”
The answer is either, however I recommend trying it both for a few days.

What I mean is I would apply 1 drop of Liv-Better on the bottom of each foot for 2-3 days, and then only apply the oil over the liver for a few days and see which your body prefers.

You can apply an essential oil over the bottom of the feet for great benefit
for the reasons we already discussed and also because of the Reflexology points on the bottom of your feet.

What is Liv-Better?
If you are new to the Restore Hope Oils Family this is one of our premier product. We formulated to help support normal liver function and proper biliary tree function.
Liv-Better was created to support normal detoxification methods already performed by the liver, biliary tree and gallbladder.

Liv Better Essential Oil Blend

What is Reflexology you ask? Here is one definition:

Reflexology is a complementary therapy that applies gentle pressure to the feet or hands to stimulate energy pathways in the body.

Summary
Reflexology works on energy pathways similar to acupuncture
Pressing certain points on the feet is thought to help release energy blockages and restore balance in the body
Reflexologists believe that certain points on the feet correspond to organs in the body

While there is a lot of information we will not go in depth with Reflexology today,
I will share a link with you to look over a simple picture of the possible points
on the bottom of the feet that are believed to connect to different organs and systems of the body.

When I apply an essential oil to the feet before bed I tend to apply the oil over
the whole foot taking special care to gently rub oil on the toes and liver areas depending on what oil it is.
Why do I rub the oil on my toes? That is the portion of the foot connected to the head and brain. I need my brain to begin to relax when I go to bed.

So, in reference to the question at the beginning about Liv-Better,
one could try applying the oil over the areas of the feet in correspondence with the liver.

What if my digestive system is challenged?
I could apply Pure Digest (another amazing essential oil blend) to my abdomen,
but also to the area associated with the stomach or colon on my feet.

One drop of oil is enough when targeting something on the feet.

The options are endless!
If you have questions on which oils can be helpful for different systems do not hesitate to reach out.

There Is An Essential Oil For Body Image?

There Is An Essential Oil For Body Image?

Pink Grapefruit is the topic of today’s post because if you haven’t noticed there is a lot going on and that can affect our self-image, I have found that using Pink Grapefruit as an essential oil brings a sense of peace within.

As we have talked before, some citrus oils are more stimulating, and some are more relaxing. Pink Grapefruit is certainly more stimulating with an absolutely wonderful, sweet and tart scent at the same time.

Grapefruit Essential Oil

Grapefruit is a great liver detoxifier, antimicrobial, is uplifting and acts as a great lymphatic stimulant. In oils when we say an oil is a lymphatic stimulant, we are also saying it may be good for challenges with cellulite, obesity, weight management and water retention.

This is a great oil for people who struggle with “Winter Blues”. The personality of Grapefruit is warm, inviting and revitalizing.

I appreciate Robbi Zeck’s perspective on grapefruit:

She recommends, “using grapefruit oil whenever you are feeling drained, strung out or depressed. She explains that the light fruity aroma of grapefruit lifts the spirit and radiates optimism. Grapefruit helps us focus our thoughts on the positive aspects of our lives.”

Pink Grapefruit, when used consistently, can help dissolve mental and emotional roadblocks. This is a great oil to diffuse in the office when mental stress may be present.

My favorite single companion essential oil to Grapefruit would be Bergamot. Their scents are complementary and their actions on the mind and body are even more so.

Bergamot

While Grapefruit tends to help us feel more at peace about our body image, Bergamot helps us to be more at peace with who we are. The two oils together help us with how we view ourselves and our bodies. I love them together when diffused or applied over my abdomen and the bottom of my feet.

Application Ideas:

Apply 2-3 drops daily with a little carrier oil (Fractionated Coconut Oil) to hips or trouble areas to help with stagnant lymph flow to support proper weight management.

My wife Carrie loves a drop or two of Grapefruit in her water throughout the day. She really enjoys it in her Perrier for that fruity carbonation feel without the high fructose corn syrup. She just makes sure the bottle is glass or metal and not plastic as many essential oils can break down synthetic compounds. We both enjoy a drop or two of citrus oil in our water.
Apply drops with .5 – 1 tsp of carrier oil to swollen ankles or legs to help mitigate water retention.

Going To The Bathroom Too Often?

Blog

Going To The Bathroom  Too Often?

In this post we will be talking about what we can do about digestive issues.

A customer recently asked, “My husband gets up multiple times in the night to go to the bathroom. Is there an essential oil that can aid this?”

My response is, “Has this been happening for some time?

Has there been a change in mood and/or stress levels?

Is there a new medication or lifestyle change?

How much water are they drinking at night?

At some point in our lives we all will have some sort of digestive issue,
so these are questions we can all ask ourselves.

Often we do not realize that increased stress and worry can have a great effect on our body.

Think about this for a moment, “What is happening when we urinate?”

We are releasing toxins and substances that if they stayed in our body could be harmful, right?

One possible thought is that anyone under stress may begin to see urination challenges as it can be an example of how the body is trying to rid itself of both physical and emotional toxins. It could be a sign to us that we need to take steps to manage our emotions.

My thought when approaching this challenge would be to ask myself,
“How can I provide stress relief or support to the urinary system?”

My first choice would be Cypress essential oil applied to my lower abdomen with some carrier oil (Fractionated Coconut Oil) before bed.

Coconut Carrier Oil

Why Cypress? Cypress essential oil could be considered the oil of flow. This flow capacity of Cypress is applicable to our emotional resilience, cardiovascular and urinary systems, and more. When applied, Cypress initiates improved flow for our body systems and greater ability to work through times of transition in our lives.

Cypress essential oil is gentle enough for a child when diluted and strong enough for an adult.

Cypress comes from the twigs, leaves and stems of the actual tree. Tree oils tend to help us stay grounded in times of great stress. They help us stay rooted and resolute in our challenges.

Cypress Essential Oil

I love tree oils. I absolutely love them and Cypress is no exception. An oil with underestimated capacity,

Cypress can help alleviate discomfort, improve general blood flow, boost the immune, urinary and respiratory systems while helping us manage stress in a more helpful manner.

Reach out with any questions!

Essential Oils Considered An Antifungal For Possible Candida Challenges

Blog

Essential Oils Considered An Antifungal For Possible Candida Challenges

It’s time to talk more about one oil that can be helpful for not only mold,
but also as a possible solution to another question I continually get.

Question #1 – Are there any oils considered an antifungal for possible candida challenges?

Question #2 – Is there an oil that protects from bacteria growth in the mouth and gums?

Let’s address the first question in this post. Tea Tree or Melaleuca alternifolia is one of the most studied essential oils on the market.

Just a few of the pharmacological studies that have involved Tea Tree were in reference to the following properties or possible properties of Tea Tree as an: Antifungal, Anti-inflammatory, Antimicrobial, Antioxidant, Antitussive, Antiviral, Expectorant, Hepatoprotective, and Insecticidal.

Tea Tree is a fantastic essential oil and on my list of what I call “Triple Threats”!

Tea Tree

I consider a Triple Threat to be an oil that has three distinct properties:
Antiviral, Antibacterial and Antifungal. Tea Tree is gentle enough for a child when diluted and stronger than most essential oils in the areas just mentioned, but is not considered a hot oil like Clove, Oregano and others.

A study done on Tea Tree and many other oils in 2014 found the following:

Freiesleben and Jager stated; the antifungal agents can deactivate the fungus
by disrupting the structure and function of membranes or organelles of
fungal cell and/or inhibiting the nuclear material or protein synthesis.”
Freisesleben S.H., Jager A.K. Correlation between plant secondary metabolites
and their antifungal mechanism—a review. Med. Arom. Plants. 2014;3:1–6. [Clevland Clinic] [Ref list]

What this means is that antifungals like Tea Tree can have the capacity to
deactivate or keep mold cells from multiplying by destroying their ability to grow!

How cool is that?!

What is Candida? Yeast. What is yeast? Fungus! According to the CDC:

“Candida normally lives on the skin and inside the body,
in places such as the mouth, throat, gut, and vagina, without causing any problems.”

Why does this matter to you and I?

It can become a greater challenge when it spreads in our home and is starting to affect you?

The simple topical application I use for a natural defense against fungal buildup is a simple combination that includes Tea Tree essential oil and a carrier oil:

I apply 2 drops to my lower abdomen twice a day as a proactive approach of Tea Tree with ½ a teaspoon of carrier oil like Safflower or Fractionated Coconut Oil. I do this at different times throughout the year.
It is not daily for me, but it would be if I suspect fungal buildup in my system.

If you are looking for other alternatives Lemongrass and Lemon are other great possibilities
to assist with possible excess fungal challenges in the body.

Minty Citrus Essential Oil DIY Blend Anyone

Minty Citrus Essential Oil DIY Blend Anyone

Hey this is Gavin from Restore Hope Oils.  Welcome to our blog while ago I had an experience where I was in my office and a wonderful friend of mine came by to get some oils. This woman has been a great friend and grandma type personality for my children.

She said, “Gavin, do you still have the raw Peppermint oil “I love so much”  (we sell a non-rectified Peppermint oil  so it has a slightly more bitter note as we do not remove any of the constituents)?”

I said, “Yes we do. Do you need some today?”

She said, “Oh yes, please don’t get rid of it because I love it, it is my Pure Happy!”

We chatted for a moment longer and I asked, “May I share with you some oils you could combine with your Peppermint oil that I think you may enjoy?”

Her eyes went wide, “You mean, you can make it better?!” (this woman has amazing energy and loves the mint family of oils in general)

I said, “Better will be determined by you, but Carrie (my wife) and I really enjoy it.”

I want to share with you, The Restore Hope Oils Family, what I shared with her. This is a simple DIY blend that:

Smells minty with a hint of citrus.

Assists soreness and can mitigate lactic acid buildup after a workout.

Has been found to open the mind and respiratory system.

Items needed:

1 – Restore Hope Oils Lime

Lime Essential Oil

1 – Restore Hope Oils Peppermint

Peppermint essential oil

1 – Restore Hope Oils Rosemary

1 – Restore Hope Oils Fractionated Coconut Oil

Carrier Oil – Fractionated Coconut

A 10ml bottle holds approximately (depending on the density of the oil) 200 drops of oil/product. Here are some simple ratios of oil and carrier I would add to the empty roller bottle or standard 10ml bottle:

Add enough Fractionated Carrier Oil to fill 25% of the bottle.

Add 10 drops of Peppermint

Add 12 drops of Rosemary

Add 30 drops of Lime

Fill the rest of the bottle with Fractionated Coconut Oil. This is enough carrier oil that I don’t overpower a room, but I receive great benefit.

Gently agitate the bottle for 1-2 minutes.

Let the mixture sit in a dark and preferably cool place for 12-24 hours for the oils to really learn to come together. The aroma will be quite different in 24 hours.

Apply to sore muscles, to neck and shoulders for a mental pick me up or if you want to support your respiratory system.
